About me...

My name is Charlotte and I founded Flourish Wellness off the back of struggling with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia during my teenage year and early twenties. From a very young age I trained as a dancer and when I was 19 I moved to London to study BA Dance Performance and to pursue my dreams of a professional dance career. Unfortunately the pressure of the dance world coupled with my low self esteem and already rocky relationship with food and body image meant I spiralled into a full blow eating disorder. In my third year of uni I was officially diagnosed with Bulimia Nervosa, but at that point I was already purging for around 3 years.

During my time at university I was also opened up to the fitness industry and at the time this was an industry where the words "body image" were never spoken and everything was centred around macros, calories and screams of "eat less, move more!" and "nothings tastes as good as skinny feels." Diet culture was incredibly normalised and too an extent it still is today! It was these messages that further distorted my relationship to fitness and exercise. Sure, I was lean and had a great dancers physique but inside I was miserable, hated what I looked like and had crushing self confidence. Food was something I feared or forever had to be burnt off and exercise (even dancing) became a punishment for what I had eaten or to make my body even smaller if possible.

During my third year for my final year dissertation I investigated the links between Negative Perfectionism and disordered eating in contemporary dancers, and low and behold learnt so much about myself in this process. Mainly that I wasn't alone and what I was struggling with was quite common, just nobody actually spoke about this. This sparked the initial flame of my recovery and my motivation to heal so I could help people who were feeling similar and ensure they didn't fall down the slippery slope into an ED like I did.

Fast forward over a decade and that's exactly what I do... I help others find food freedom and a happier medium with their body image. A life that isn't dictated by what you eat or what you look like but a life full of experiences as a healthier, happier you from the inside out. I recognised that even though my lived experience was relatable it wasn't enough to actually help people so I spent years studying, researching and learning along the way.

I went on to study as a Level 3 PT and Reformer Pilates instructor stepping into the industry in 2018. I took courses and classes in Mindfulness and meditation techniques. I then went on to study as a Sport and Exercise Nutritional Therapist (PNL1) and most recently as a Master Practitioner with the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED BPS ACC). I am currently undertaking a Womens Coaching Specialist Course (GGS 2025) and will soon be embarking on my MSC Psychology conversion.

In both my group work and 1:1 work I used a combination of nutritional and psychological interventions as well as mindfulness based techniques to create true, long lasting behaviour change. There aren't any cookie cutter meal plans or fitness plans, we work together, we collaborate to reeducate and give you the power and confidence to make your own informed choices. I teach you how to listen to your body and connect back to yourself. You body is your home and if you're here, I'd say you're already curious as to how you can start treating it with more compassion and care.

Check out my services and offerings and let's see how we can start working together!
